Nowadays with so many male R&B dudes doing pretty much the same thing, its rare for somebody to truely wow me. However, Miguel is a very different species of male R&B artist.
When i first came across this exceptional talent, he was auditioning for a spot in R&B/Funk group Fatty Koo on their BET reality show. Although egos and personalities did not seem to agree, and he ultimately did not join the group, it was his amazing rendition of their song chills that left a lasting impression me.
Much later i can across his video for single "Hands Up", and although the song and videos overall cheese factor, it was obvious the guy has an amazing voice and is even quiet the performer.
Years later, Miguel has developed into one of music's most unique, eclectic, and underrated R&B dudes. His sound is a cool mesh of elements from hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B. He, in my opinion, has enough swagger and talent to become one of the most significant dudes in the game.
