Now everyone knows im a fair dude and i give everyone a chance. People also know that imma sucker for a pretty girl with a big voice. With that said, when i first heard about singer Alexandra Burke doing her thing over in the UK on Popular show X-Factor, i was excited. We are talking about the same show that gave the world Leona Lewis, and the same t.v producers responsible for all the amazing voices that have found success via American Idol (Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, etc)

So like most artist im curious about, i went and did research. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I mean she is a staple on several popular UK blogs; she was getting compared to the likes of Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton; and the all mighty Beyonce even performed with her on her winning night. So i headed over to youtube, typed her name, and watch the first video that popped up.

She's beautiful, she can sing, but it's nothing new. Better singers have LOST American Idol. I just don't see all the fuss...

Don't Kill me, im trying here...but something about her voice bothers me. Truth be told, she's just not that special. Technically she right on point, most of the notes are good, and when she does nail her runs they sound good. But her voice lacks the kinda personality it takes to make it in today's industry as JUST a singer.

I do see the potential, but right now i feel like all the hype around her is not worth it. I feel Leona's success the season before put pressure on the shows producers to deliver an artist on the same level, which is why they have put so much spotlight on Burke, or could she perhapes be that much better than i am seeing??

She's currently working on her debut project with the likes of Akon, Pharell, Timberland, and Red One, and her debut single "Hallelujah" is the biggest selling single in the UK, not to mention her record deal is worth £1 million...so she's not off to a bad start.

Until the album drops, i'll save my verdict and add her to the list of "Artist i want to like". And i'm hoping she proves me wrong, cause she seems like a great girl. Like i said, i see potential, but somethings off....

Check out one of the performances i actually enjoyed.

Your thoughts on Alexandra Burke??
